What is a jar safety seal band?
A jar safety seal band is a thin film slipped over the lid and neck of a jar and shrunk with heat. Thanks to its perforation (a line of small holes), the band tears the first time the lid is turned and cannot be restored. The buyer can see at a glance that the product has not been opened. This band is the jar and can version of our general sleeve safety seal band range.

How do you choose the right band size?
The band size is set by the lid diameter and the neck height. Share the lid circumference and the height the band should cover; if you have a sample jar we can also take the measurements from it.

Printed or clear?
A clear band lets the product and lid stand out; a printed band carries brand colours, lot information or a warning text. On honey and jam a clear band keeps the look of the jar; on pickles and paste a printed band increases shelf visibility.
How is the band applied?
- The band is slipped over the jar lid.
- It is shrunk in a heat tunnel, or with a hand-held heat source for small runs.
- As it cools it sits tightly on the lid and the shape of the neck.

What is a jar safety seal band?

We cannot say it is a legal requirement for every product, but many retail chains and export buyers ask for first-opening assurance. We recommend checking the requirement for your product against the relevant regulations and buyer terms.

Yes. The band can be applied to packs with metal, plastic and glass lids. Share the lid and neck dimensions and we will recommend the suitable film and band height.
Which dimensions do I need to give for an order?
The lid diameter (or circumference), the neck and lid height and the jar material are enough. If you have a sample jar we can take the measurement too.
How and with what equipment is the band applied?
After the band is placed over the lid it is shrunk in a heat tunnel. For small runs a hand-held heat source can also be used. Tell us your application method and we prepare the band size accordingly.
Can a logo and lot information be printed on it?
Yes. The band can be produced printed in your brand colours; the print area for a logo, lot number or warning text is settled at the design stage.
Can I order small quantities?
Yes, we have no minimum order requirement. We can produce bands for trials or small batches; just share the quantity and size.
Is it suitable for hot-filled or pasteurised products?
Heat resistance depends on the film type. Share your filling and process temperature and we will choose a film for that condition and reply with an application recommendation.
